Alin B1 Hydropower Plant (Phong Điền District, Thừa Thiên Huế Province) is a diversion-type plant developed by Công ty CP Thủy điện Trường Phú. The main reservoir is in the A Ling River basin to the west of the Trường Sơn range, while the secondary reservoir is on the A Lin River to the east. The two reservoirs are connected by Tunnel No. 1, approximately 4.4 km long. The water conveyance system at the secondary dam comprises an intake structure, an 815 m long headrace channel, an unpressurised Tunnel No. 2 measuring 1262 m, a forebay, and a penstock 2.5 m in diameter and 750 m long. The powerhouse has 02 vertical-shaft Francis turbine units with a total capacity of 46 MW and average annual generation of 162.3 million kWh. The plant has a relatively high maximum generating head, Hmax=303 m, and large penstocks in steep terrain with complex geology. The project was completed and began generating electricity in 2019.

Scope of work:
– The project was divided into several design packages. VCE undertook surveys, technical design and shop drawings for the water conveyance system from the forebay onwards, the penstock, powerhouse, tailrace channel and 110 kV switchyard, as well as the preparation of bidding documents.
– VCE also provided construction supervision consulting services for headrace tunnels No. 1 and No. 2.
