Thác Cá 1 Hydropower Project (Văn Yên District, Yên Bái Province) has a very large clear tunnel diameter (D = 6.5 m, L = 2259 m) and was designed by VCE. The project was completed and began generating electricity in 2022.
The project is located on the Ngòi Thia River. The reservoir has a storage capacity of approximately 5.7 million m³, impounded by a concrete gravity dam approximately 31 m high. The spillway has 06 bays fitted with flat gates, each 12 m wide.
The diversion-type powerhouse contains 01 Kaplan turbine unit, with an installed capacity of 27 MW and average annual generation of 90.3 million kWh. Rated head: Htt = 32 m; rated discharge through the generating units: Qmax = 96.4 m³/s.
