Suối Sập 2A Hydropower Project (Bắc Yên District, Sơn La Province) is a diversion-type hydropower plant sharing the reservoir of Suối Sập 1. It is considered an expansion project of Suối Sập 1. The project was completed and began generating electricity in 2022.
The intake structure is located within the Suối Sập 1 reservoir on the right bank of the Suối Sập 1 dam, approximately 400 m from the Suối Sập 1 dam alignment. The headrace tunnel has D = 4.4 m and a length of 5484 m. The surge tank has D = 10 m and a height of 36 m, with a connecting shaft 3 m in diameter and 54 m high.
The diversion-type powerhouse contains 02 vertical-shaft Francis turbine units, with a total installed capacity of 49.6 MW and average annual generation of 165.715 million kWh. Maximum generating head: Hmax = 303.6 m; maximum design discharge through the generating units: Qmax = 19.22 m³/s.
