Nậm Củm 4 Hydropower Project (Mường Tè District, Lai Châu Province) is a diversion-type hydropower plant. The project began generating electricity in 2024.
The headworks dam on the Nậm Củm Stream is a concrete gravity dam with a maximum height of approximately 58.6 m. The reservoir has a storage capacity of approximately 23.7 million m³. The spillway has 03 bays fitted with radial gates, each 11 m wide.
The water conveyance system on the right bank comprises an intake structure; a headrace tunnel with D = 3.6 m and a length of 2140 m; and a surge tank with D = 7 m and a height of 55 m, with a connecting shaft 3.6 m in diameter and 28 m high.
The powerhouse contains 02 vertical-shaft Francis turbine units, with a total installed capacity of 54 MW, subsequently revised to 56 MW according to the source. Average annual generation is 195.3 million kWh. Maximum generating head: Hmax = 175 m; maximum design discharge through the generating units: Qmax = 41 m³/s.
