Dakchaliou I & II Hydropower Projects (Dak Chueng District, SeKong Province, Lao PDR) comprise 2 cascade stages on the Nam Pagnou Stream in the intervening catchment between the XeKaman 3 dam and powerhouse. VASE is the project owner. Both plants are diversion-type hydropower developments. Review and appraisal of the basic design and technical design documentation were completed in 2015, and VCE has issued most of the shop drawings. However, construction has not yet commenced, according to the source article.
Dakchaliou II (the upper stage): The headworks comprise an embankment dam combined with a concrete gravity spillway in the river channel. The maximum height of the earthfill section is approximately 24.5 m. The reservoir has a storage capacity of approximately 0.3 million m³. The overflow spillway is 45 m wide.
The water conveyance system on the right bank of the dam comprises an intake structure; a headrace tunnel with D = 2.0 m and a length of 2143.65 m; and a surge tank with D = 5 m and a height of 41.5 m.
The powerhouse contains 02 horizontal-shaft Francis turbine units, with a total installed capacity of 13 MW and average annual generation of 51.8 million kWh. Maximum generating head: Hmax = 149.2 m; maximum design discharge through the generating units: Qmax = 11.3 m³/s.
