Hòa Thuận Hydropower Plant (Phục Hòa District, Cao Bằng Province) is a dam-integrated plant on the Bằng River, directly designed by VCE. The project was completed and began generating electricity in 2019.
The reservoir has a storage capacity of approximately 5.2 million m³ and is impounded by a concrete gravity dam approximately 22 m high. The spillway comprises 1 overflow spillway bay, 80 m wide, and 1 gated spillway bay, 10 m wide. The powerhouse has 02 bulb (capsule) turbine units with a total capacity of 17.4 MW and average annual generation of 61 million kWh. The plant's rated head is Htt=8 m and the rated discharge through the generating units is Qmax=253 m³/s.
